Carmel CERT Awarded $1,500 Grant to Boost Emergency Readiness

Posted by CERV Team on

The Community Emergency Response Volunteers (CERV) is proud to announce its support for the Carmel-By-The-Sea CERT program through a $1,500 discretionary grant from the City of Carmel. These funds will directly enhance CERT’s ability to prepare, train, and respond to emergencies—helping to safeguard residents and strengthen community resilience.

Supporting Local Emergency Volunteers

Carmel CERT is made up of community volunteers who train regularly to support local first responders during emergencies. From natural disasters to public safety incidents, CERT members provide critical mutual aid to the Carmel Police Department, Monterey Fire Department, and neighboring cities when additional support is needed.

This grant funding will be used to:

  • Upgrade CERT training programs

  • Purchase essential emergency equipment

  • Ensure volunteers are well-equipped to respond effectively in real-world situations

Why This Matters

Natural disasters and emergencies do not discriminate. Whether facing wildfires, floods, earthquakes, or public safety incidents, a trained and prepared CERT team ensures faster, safer, and more coordinated responses. By investing in training and equipment, the Carmel CERT team is better able to:

  • Keep residents safe in emergencies

  • Provide timely assistance to first responders

  • Offer mutual aid to surrounding communities when needed

Partnership Between CERV and Carmel CERT

As the fiscal agent for this grant, CERV received the funds on behalf of Carmel CERT and coordinated the transfer. This partnership continues CERV’s commitment to empowering local CERT programs across Monterey County by providing resources, funding, and technical support.

CERV is grateful for the dedication of Carmel CERT leaders and volunteers, who serve selflessly to protect their neighbors. Together, we are building stronger, safer, and more resilient communities.
