CERV Board Member Recognized for Exceptional Community Service

Honoring Sustained Leadership and Volunteer Impact

Sean Brownlee , a member of the CERV Board of Directors and CEO of Ravenox, was recognized for his continued service to the Monterey community and our nation. A retired U.S. Marine Corps Master Gunnery Sergeant, Sean has dedicated decades to leadership, readiness, and community resilience.

Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal

The United States Marine Corps awarded Sean the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal for sustained, direct support to community organizations and emergency readiness programs. His volunteer leadership spans emergency preparedness, mentoring, neighborhood engagement, and veteran support initiatives across Monterey County and beyond.

Service Across Education, Preparedness, and Neighborhood Resilience

Sean is a graduate of the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center and the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey. He has served CERV in multiple capacities, including Advisory Council and logistics support for Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) programs, helping strengthen equipment readiness, inventories, and coordination across Monterey, Pacific Grove, and Carmel.

His neighborhood leadership includes serving as Vice President of the Del Monte Beach Neighborhood Association, where he accelerated membership growth, launched digital communication channels, and helped establish Nextdoor to improve community connection and safety.

A Record of Community-First Action

Sean’s volunteering has been consistently recognized by local organizations and public agencies. In 2013, CERV named him Volunteer of the Year. His ongoing work focuses on empowering residents with training, improving disaster readiness, and supporting veterans through mentorship and service.
